Julie Gehrki
Julie Gehrki is President of the Walmart Foundation and Senior Vice President of Philanthropy at Walmart. Julie leads Walmart.org, which represents the combined philanthropic efforts of Walmart and the Walmart Foundation.
In FY2024, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $1.7 billion in grants, food and product donations globally. Walmart.org programs aim to help people live better by complementing Walmart’s business initiatives to create economic opportunity in retail, advance environmental and social sustainability and strengthen local communities. The Walmart.org team’s ability to draw on Walmart’s business strengths, providing more than just funding, enables our philanthropy to make a lasting, long-term impact on economic, environmental and social systems.
In more than 15 years at Walmart, Julie has shaped transformative strategic giving programs at the Walmart Foundation and served as a trusted advisor to the business on initiatives that create shared value for associates, customers, investors and communities.
Prior to joining Walmart in 2008, Julie worked in the nonprofit sector on issues that revitalized and strengthened communities. She has a bachelor’s degree in religion from Rhodes College, a master’s degree in public service from the Clinton School of Public Service and was a Jane Addams-Andrew Carnegie Fellow at Indiana University’s School of Philanthropy. Internationally, she has done program evaluation in Kenya and Tanzania and taught English in Eastern Europe.
Julie serves on the Board of Directors of Independent Sector and as President of the Associates in Critical Need Trust.
