Shuyin Tang
Shuyin has been living and investing in Vietnam since 2013 and has played a pivotal role in developing the country’s impact investing sector. She is the co-founder and CEO of the Beacon Fund, the first private debt fund focused on Vietnam and the first private debt fund with an impact and gender lens in Southeast Asia. Beacon focuses on backing the ‘missing middle’ of women and diverse-led businesses which are too small for PE, too big for microfinance, do not fit the growth profile of VC and are underserved by banks.
She has experience spanning strategy consulting (Bain & Company), development consulting (TechnoServe) and impact investing (Patamar Capital, LGT Venture Philanthropy), across Australia, India and Southeast Asia. She has also worked in U.S. Congress and the Australian public service, as well as at The Lowy Institute for International Policy and UNICEF.
Shuyin was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2024,, one of the “40 Under 40 Most Influential Asian-Australians” in 2020, and one of Australia’s “100 Women of Influence” by the Australian Financial Review in 2015. She currently serves on the Board and Investment Committee of the Equality Fund. Shuyin graduated summa cum laude from the Australian National University where she was also awarded the University Medal.
