She is also responsible for managing, enhancing and strengthening DBS’ brand positioning and value, as well as ensuring a consistent brand identity across all businesses and markets, including Singapore, Greater China, South and Southeast Asia.
Karen also leads the DBS Foundation, which seeks to uplift the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable communities in Asia and plays a key role in the bank’s efforts to create impact beyond banking.
Established in 2014 to champion social entrepreneurship, the Foundation has since catalysed the growth and impact of more than 160 innovative, purpose-driven businesses through grant funding, preferential banking solutions, mentorship, capacity-building, business opportunities and more. In 2022, the Foundation broadened its mandate to support vulnerable communities directly through targeted programmes and partnerships. Over its first decade (2014 – 2024), the Foundation has positively impacted over 10 million lives across the region.
In 2024, the bank further deepened its commitment to supporting the vulnerable by pledging SGD 1 billion over ten years to this purpose. This will be supported by 1.5 million employee volunteer hours over the same period.
Karen has over 30 years of experience in corporate branding, marketing and communications for financial institutions, and joined DBS from Standard Chartered Bank where she was Global Head, Brand Management and Strategic Marketing.
