Lisa Plaggemier
Lisa Plaggemier is Executive Director at the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA). A recognized leader in cybersecurity awareness and education, she is on a mission to empower people and organizations to stay safe online, so that everyone everywhere can experience the benefits of technology without the worry of scams, fraud, and cybercrime.
Lisa started her career in marketing with Ford Motor Company, working in developing markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe in the years following the fall of the Berlin Wall, where customers had been on waiting lists for new vehicles for a decade. This is where she developed her ability to build a brand, connecting with diverse audiences and driving impactful campaigns. Returning to the US, Lisa took her marketing prowess to CDK, an automotive technology provider, where she discovered a communication gap between security professionals fighting to protect our organizations and our way of life, and the rest of us, struggling with the lingo and understanding the simple steps we can take to protect ourselves.
The passion to bridge that gap drove Lisa’s transition from marketing to security, protecting and educating CDK employees and their enterprise and small business customers. Lisa held executive leadership positions as Chief Evangelist at InfoSec Institute and Chief Marketing Officer at MediaPro (acquired by KnowB4). Lisa led the NCA to two CSO awards: one for Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a campaign that engages millions of individuals, businesses and governments around the world annually, and one for Kubikle, a comedic YouTube series with over 19 million views.
Lisa has served on the US Secret Service Cyber Investigations Advisory Board, the Board of human trafficking nonprofit Allies Against Slavery, and the Board of US Cyber Games. She is a University of Michigan graduate (Go Blue!) and while she wasn’t born in Austin, Texas, she got there as fast as she could.
