Patricia (Pat) Smith
Pat Smith is a woman of many titles—entrepreneur, philanthropist, speaker, minister, author, and mother. As Founder and CEO of Pat Smith Enterprises, Founder of the non-profit Treasure You, and Co-Founder of Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities, Pat has dedicated her life to service, empowerment, and leadership.
Originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, Pat now lives in Dallas, Texas, where her impact reaches across communities and industries. With a degree in journalism from James Madison University, she began her public journey as a trailblazer—becoming the first African American woman to win the Miss Virginia USA title. Her momentum continued as she earned first runner-up at the 1994 Miss USA Pageant, marking her as a bold and inspiring presence on a national stage.
Pat’s drive extends well beyond pageants. She built a career in television, appearing on major shows like Good Morning America, Dr. Phil, Extra, and Access Hollywood. She also had guest roles on popular series like The Wayans Brothers, Beverly Hills 90210, and Sunset Beach. Her personal story was shared with the world in the OWN Network’s special, Mrs. and Mr. Smith.
Through her non-profit, Treasure You, Pat supports women facing challenges, offering them a renewed sense of self and opportunity. The organization focuses on helping women embrace second chances and rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. This mission also flows into her fashion venture, PS by Pat Smith, where proceeds help meet emergency needs of women and girls in crisis.
As a speaker, Pat has a rare gift for connection. She’s been featured on platforms like the Women of Faith Tour, The Potter’s House in Dallas, and Lakewood Church in Houston. Her topics—faith, entrepreneurship, family, and resilience—reflect her real-life experience and spiritual grounding.
She is also the author of Second Chances, a best-selling book published by Bethany House that chronicles her journey through struggle, transformation, and purpose.
Pat is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and while her professional accolades are many, she names her greatest achievement as her blended family of five children. Her story isn’t just one of success—it’s one of overcoming, serving, and leading with grace and strength.
Pat Smith’s life is a living message: no matter where you start, with faith, purpose, and a heart to serve, you can rewrite your story—and help others rewrite theirs.
