Pei Ying Chua
Pei Ying Chua is the Head Economist for Asia-Pacific at LinkedIn. She applies economic analysis and data science to help governments and business leaders navigate the evolving world of work. Her work spans labour market analysis, workforce policy, and analysis of skills transformation – supporting LinkedIn’s mission to create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce. Pei Ying partners closely with public institutions and industry to identify emerging trends, assess the impact of technological disruption, and inform strategies for workforce resilience and inclusive growth. Her research focuses on structural shifts in hiring, the impact of AI on talent dynamics, and how the skills landscape is changing across sectors and economies.
Before joining LinkedIn, Pei Ying was Head of Economics at Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading superapp for ride-hailing, delivery, and digital financial services. She also served as Vice President of Social Impact at Conjunct Consulting, Southeast Asia’s first social change consultancy. She continues to contribute to academic and public discourse as a reviewer for the Journal of Imaging Science and Technology, and is co-author of One Minute Theorems and How Many Economists Does It Take to Change a Lightbulb?—two books that bring economics and mathematics to a broader audience through storytelling and humour. She holds combined BSc in Vision Science and Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne, an MPhil in Neuroscience from Cambridge, and an MA in Management from Harvard.
