Stix
Brandon “Stix” Salaam-Bailey, born July 13, 1983, in Watts, California, is a dynamic American musician, activist, and entrepreneur. Renowned for pioneering the “KRUMP” dance movement, showcased in the documentary “Rize,” Stix has made a significant mark in the entertainment industry. His notable contribution to Iggy Azalea’s 2017 album “Digital Distortion” and the gold-certified single “Team” which debuted at #42 on the Billboard Hot 100, highlights his musical prowess.
In 2018, Stix channeled his passion for community development into founding the Thinkwatts Foundation. This initiative focuses on uplifting underserved Los Angeles communities through economic development and support, touching the lives of over 40,000 residents. As a dedicated ambassador for Los Angeles sports teams, Stix has lent his creative talents to composing theme songs for the LAFC, LA Rams, and LA Clippers, earning four CLIO awards for his collaboration with the Rams.
Further expanding his influence, Stix collaborated with global brand Nike, becoming one of the first non-athlete influencers to design a custom AF1 shoe. This venture was part of Nike’s commitment to supporting the Black community. Stix also partnered with Mocafi bank and the city of Los Angeles in launching the Angeleno Connectivity program, aimed at providing essential banking services and free internet to low-income communities. His contributions to his hometown were recognized in 2021 when he received the prestigious key to the city of Watts.
