Tehmina Kaoosji
Tehmina Kaoosji is an Independent Broadcast Journalist, Gender Equity Activist and Partner & Communications Director of
The Big Picture (TBP) Communications based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
She is a 2025 Tatler Asia Gen.T Leader of Tomorrow – Asia’s definitive next-generation list celebrating trailblazing founders, creatives and change-makers shaping the region’s future.
With more than a decade of news media experience, she currently anchors ‘NIAGA SPOTLIGHT’, a weekly economic analysis and future affairs show on ASTRO AWANI – Malaysia’s first 24 hour news and information channel.
She is a Thomson Reuters Foundation Fellow and US State Department IVLP Alumna (Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists)
Tehmina is a former two term Board Member of the Institute of Journalists Malaysia. She is a founding member of the Malaysian Media Council ProTem Committee, which engaged with successive governments since 2020 and prepared the Malaysian Media Council (MMC) Bill for tabling in Malaysian parliament.
This has resulted in the Malaysian Media Council Act coming into effect in June 2025.
TBP Communications focuses on strategic advocacy & policy outcomes for youth, social development & gender equity issues.
Since 2020, TBP curates and organises the annual Malaysia Women & Girls Forum (MWGF) supported by the United Nations in Malaysia and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Malaysia.
